Woke up this morning and pulled open the curtains to find a bright day. First thing I saw was a bright yellow butterfly, the first of the year. I watched it flutter towards the house from upstairs and wondered how it managed to maintain direction. Must find out how it does it! It is quite windy. Anyway I went downstairs after about 10 minutes and went into the garden room for a fag and blow me! The butterfly was in their trapped in a spiders web. It was flapping wildly and thank goodness, the spider had not detected it. I cupped my hands and freed it from its location but the web material was so strong and butterfly was still bound up. I was concerned that if I pulled the web material that it was wrapped up in I might cause damage but thankfully after I had done so it was able to fly. Trouble was that we were still inside and it went straight back onto the sunroom glass. "Don't go there" I shouted and chased after it. I caught it again in my cupped hands, took it outside, and gently threw it into the air. To my great delight it rose up into the sky and resumed its foray for nectar.
Five minutes later I returned to the sun room and blow me again, there was the hugest buzziest bumble bee that I have ever seen in their trying to fly through the glass to freedom. Catching him was a little trickier because I am somewhat insect wary and if he stang me it woulde not be good for either of us. Anyway I ran into the kitchen and grabbed a large baking sieve, bent the handle and caught the monster. Looks like Spring is here!
There is a little Robin in thevicinity of my garden that is the tamest wild bird imaginable. That is if it is wild that is. I have been trying to get it to sit on my hand but not quite there yet. It understands telepathically that I will not harm it but is just a little reticent just now. It always comes out to join me when I am out.
